Mystery of Kathyayini- Chapter 02

Author POV

On the other hand....back in Bombay her friends are devastated without any news from the state police. The group of youngsters then set out to investigate the truth behind the missing of their college mate Kathyayini by themselves.

But it wasn’t easy, they found no help from the police, media nor the government body itself. They were helpless and exhausted from weeks of searching for her, only to be disappointed over and over because their trials, were no were getting near to finding kathyayini.

Days passed by and members within the group started losing hope and left them as now a group of 3. Akshay, Anjit and Roshini. The three most closest people to dear kathyayini. None of them went to the same school nor the same college as kathyayini except her best friend Roshini.

Sitting at the corner of a roof top, Looking down at their feet's blankly, the three of them starts to recall their memories with her. Kathyayini was no ordinary girl. She was brave, brilliant, creative in many aspects and spoke out for not just hers but everyone else’s rights and addressed their problems without any fear. She was always a helping hand to everyone but now look at them. No one is willing to stay hopeful for her.

Akshay shreds tears of pain as he thinks about her. She wasn’t just a friend to him. She was his sister by heart. It broke his heart to even think of what would have gone wrong.

“Why hasn’t she come back yet? Where did she go? What happened to her? Is she alright?” These questions kept lingering in all of their minds with an obvious painful ache inside.

The most affected one however was Anjit. As for him, she was his everything. He haven’t met a more interesting girl other than her in his life. He prayed for her to not be hurt. He prayed for her life. He prayed to just see her soon. He prayed that he could help her just like how she used to do for him and others during those hopeless days.

“You should head home now Roshini.” Said Anjit. “Yes, it’s late. come, we’ll accompany you.” Said Akshay. “I’m not going anywhere. How can I sleep knowing she’s out there? What if she’s not okay? What if she’s waiting for us to help her? If not us who will help her? All these people she’s helped are just ungrateful selfish jerks! How can they do this to her?!?” Said Roshini and broke down.

Both the men in their youth felt heartbroken to see her that way and even worse about kathyayini. “Roshini...I know it’s hard to accept. But not everyone thinks the same way as we do and there’s nothing we can do about it.” Said Anjit.

“Hmm...we don’t know where kathyayini is and maybe....maybe you are right, she would be waiting for us to come for her somewhere out there. But right now, we need to take you home. You’re a girl just like our kathyayini. I’m sure your parents are worried about you.” Said Akshay while caressing her head with a brotherly touch.

“But you don’t understand! She’s been missing for days... and the clock is ticking!!.” Roshini cried out.

“Roshini please, listen to us for now and let us take you home. Me and Anjit will stay here and try to figure out a way to bring her back or at least get a trace of her, alright?” Akshay Said trying to console her.

Roshini agreed with a heavy heart. They walked by the alley in silence slowly approaching her home.

After a while, they reached her home and were welcomed with a hell worried parents. Her mom dragged her inside furious seeing her with two boys at a late hour.

“How dare you make us worried like fools and stay out with two boys at this late hour?? Do you want me to remind you of what’s the situation of your best friend?? She was just like you to us. Our daughter. We lost her and we don’t wanna lose you too dear.” Her father said getting emotional.

“That’s not true. We haven’t lost her uncle. I’m sure she’s out there. Somewhere waiting for us to get her. She isn’t the type to give up on herself, is she?” Anjit Said comforting him.

“Please don’t worry about Roshini. She’s just like kathyayini to us. We won’t let anything happen to her. I promise.” Akshay Said to her parents.

Her father patted him by the shoulder and nodded his head before taking Roshini inside after biding goodbyes. And they left.
